On December 6th, the National Day of Action to Stop and Reverse Foreclosures, the Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign unveiled the work that is being done on a vacant, single-family home that was abandoned by the owner after repeated attempts to negotiate a loan modification with her lender, J.P. Morgan Chase bank. In the ensuing months, this "walk away" home was vandalized, sprayed with grafitti, and stripped of its pipes, sinks, and heating units. With permission from the owner, the house has been cleaned up and will be used to house a single mother, a grandmother, and a college student, all currently homeless.
